Raphael Berrios

With professional experience in cabinet making, finish carpentry, and visual arts; and personal exploration in window and door making, carving, and tool making, Raphael brings a wide array of experience to the Port Townsend School of Woodworking.

“I used to think being a ‘jack of all trades’ was a bad thing. I thought it meant I would never become a master of any one trade. However, the more I learn, the more I see how the truly skilled craftsperson knows the work of the stone mason, of the carpenter, the welder, and the farmer. It is through this multidisciplinary approach that I continue to expand my knowledge base, in order to help others achieve their educational goals.

As a Port Townsend School of Woodworking Alumni, I bring a fresh perspective to the school. Combining my previous depth of knowledge of the trades, and more recently acquired skills in traditional hand tool woodworking, I assist students in a transition that is not unlike my own.”
