The racing eighteen-footers of Sydney Harbour evolved in the 1890's out of other classes in a line of development from the middle of the 19th century. In the early 20th century they became the biggest sail carriers of all open boats. With amazing images this talk traces the origin, evolution and construction of the Aussie 18-footer.
