Join Howard Rice and Gary Gnade as they present the "Voyage of Southern Cross" an educational circumnavigation by a tiny boat for elementary and middle school students. The "Voyage of Southern Cross" is all about the voyages of a "Little Wooden Ship and Her Best Friend" as they travel and sail around the world together broadcasting through live stream technology into thousands of classrooms world wide in a profound act of giving and learning. This unique circumnavigation began in the US in November 2016 and has already progressed to Chile and now moves on to New Zealand, Japan, Tibet, India, Egypt, Greece, Mallorca, France, Norway, Scotland and England before returning back to the US in three years time. The next leg to New Zealand begins right here in Port Townsend after the Festival. Using map share tracking and live stream technology Howard Rice (a former college professor) supported by a team of experts will travel and solo sail while broadcasting live from his boat and on land cultural sites direct into classrooms. Each broadcast will deliver lesson plan content that meets elementary and middle school curriculum standards and helps augment teachers required content delivery while offering students a free and completely unique voyage around the world. This program should prove to be exciting, engaging, rich and full of life lessons. “The proof of concept is in for a very different and engaging form of experiential learning” Howard states after testing the concept during his voyage through Tierra del Fuego. "The results for teachers and students has been remarkable." This live stream program is not just for students but will also be available for anyone interested in following the little ship. Join Howard for a most unique presentation to learn more about this fascinating use of a small wooden boat to give to others. Voyaging in Small Boats- A Hands on Technical Look Into the Best of Pu
